There is no denying that the most famous fugitive in history is now a wanted man and he was a sex offender, but did that make him a killer? In this gripping, gritty movie, the answer is a definite no. Robert Downey, Jr., of Iron Man fame, plays "Doyle" who has been on the run since 1982 when he was arrested for an attempted rape of a 13 year old girl. After spending time in prison, he was pardoned by President Reagan. Now he is on the run and is looking for a way to pay his fine and get out of the country. In 1981, Doyle and his friend David (Sam Shepard) were in a car with another man when he was sexually assaulted by a married woman. After being released from jail, Doyle decided to take revenge and get the man off the hook. In 1985, Doyle was arrested again and he was convicted of a new crime, rape. In 1989, he was tried again and convicted of two counts of rape. In 1994, Doyle was sentenced to twenty years in prison. In 1995, he was released and started the process of buying his freedom. In a one-on-one interview, Doyle says he would have given the two counts of rape to the court and if they had been tried in court, he would have been exonerated. Although it was not an easy task, Doyle was successful in his bid to get out of prison and once out, he made a move that would make his life seem much simpler. He married Samantha (Daryl Hannah) and she is now his wife. He says he would have not gotten out of prison if he had not married her. But, he says, he was lucky to be married. He had a beautiful wife and three beautiful daughters. He says he would have stayed married to his wife if he had not married Samantha. He also says that it is his children who were at fault for his incarceration and they should have to shoulder some of the blame. He says they did not do enough to support him and he has also had to take care of his daughters. It is clear that Doyle has had some problems in his life. He has been convicted of a crime twice and has never paid his debt to society. He says that is the reason he is on the run. "The Fading Light" is an impressive movie and it is worth watching. I would also recommend that you see "Saw" before you watch this one. I would rate this movie 9 out of 10.

Spoilers, no need to warn. This film is a masterpiece. The acting is superb, especially from Denzel Washington and Dolph Lundgren. I have been a fan of both actors for a long time, and I have always found them to be very versatile. Lundgren is the most interesting character in the movie. He is an intelligent, disturbed, and at times violent man who is mentally ill, has a short fuse, and is extremely sadistic. The acting in this film is superb, and the camera work is especially well done. It is so well shot, that I almost forget it is a movie. There is a scene where Lundgren is in a bar, and he goes up to a woman and says "hello" to her. She doesn't react, but he does. It is so well done, that you actually feel like you are there, with him. This film is a real achievement. There is a scene that I think was intentionally shot in that way. The camera pans slowly up and down, the camera is still, but the effect is that you feel like you are in the scene. It is a scene that is so well shot, that it makes the film look like a dream. But I digress. I think this is a great film. The performances are outstanding, the camera work is excellent, and the story is very well written. This film is a masterpiece, and I recommend it to everyone. The ending is especially great, and it has a great message. It is a very difficult film to get into, but once you do, you will find it very rewarding. It is a shame that it is not available on DVD. If you want to see a great film, I highly recommend this one.
