I saw this film when I was 10 years old, I can still remember it as a complete and utter work of art. And for those who claim it's "just another science fiction movie" well I have a question for you. Why do you think that the government didn't know about the aliens coming? They never got a proper answer from the government. They just assumed it was something to do with the end of the world and made up the story. And why didn't they contact the aliens after they discovered the planet they were on? They could have just picked up the signal and contacted them and explained what they were up against. Why did they go back to Earth, why did they make a stand, why did they fight? It was the only way to save the world. If they had just told them, they would have just accepted it, no need to go back. This film was amazing. I think the reason that it was so popular back then is because it was such a complete and utter masterpiece, and that's why it was so popular. I also liked the idea of the "Prestige" of the film. You know what that means, it's when you have the most prestige for a film, and you have to live up to that prestige. If the film was a total disaster, then you would have been more popular than you were, and people would have been more pissed at you for that. I liked this film, and I've watched it a few times since then. It's still as good as ever, and it's one of the best films I've ever seen. I think the only reason it isn't as popular is because of the fact that it's not a complete disaster, and that's why it's not as popular. I think the story is so great, and the acting is so good, that you should see it, I recommend it. 10/10
