In one of the most important and time-tested experiments of our time, a documentary on the human mind and our desire for a better world was made in 1982 by the Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman, "Beowulf", which was a world-wide box-office success. Since then, it has been an extraordinary movie-making and film-making tradition to watch all of Bergman's movies together, in sequence, in order. In this film, the film-makers manage to combine all the information and ideas Bergman gathered in his lifetime, and to weave them into a single coherent story. The story is so simple, that anyone can easily follow it, yet it is still very relevant to our time, and it is also still very fascinating. It's the story of a man, called Beowulf, who is the victim of a brutal rape by his own father, who is trying to make a fortune off of the bloodline of Beowulf, so that he can inherit his inheritance, and his father's riches. The father has an insane obsession with the bloodline of Beowulf, which he believes will save him from his natural death, and the result of this obsession is Beowulf's own madness. All this culminates in the movie's "Beowulf II", the sequel to "Beowulf", and the only movie Bergman made at this time, and one of the most important in his career. I recommend that anyone who wants to learn about the human mind and its pursuit of a better world, should see this movie. It is very simple, but it is extremely important, and very entertaining, and it makes you question your own beliefs, and it makes you think about what you really believe in.
