This is one of those movies that had its fair share of criticism when it was first released. One could have also argued that this was due to the fact that it was not very memorable. In my opinion, that is not the case at all. The movie is one of those movies that you are guaranteed to either be fascinated or bored by. I am going to be a little vague about the plot as there are plenty of different ways to tell this story. The movie revolves around eight women in an orphanage who all have different reasons for being there. This is a farm, and the farm is run by none other than S.E. Hinton (a very good actor by the way). He doesn't have a family of his own and has had to live off the kindness of others so that he could work. As for the young girls, they are played by Sharon Stone, Penelope Ann Miller, Demi Moore and Helen Hunt. The women are all very well done in the acting department and are all very interesting and appealing. The movie is not without flaws, such as the fact that I found that the ending was rather disappointing. I felt that the movie had a happy ending and the fact that this had been the happy ending that the children had come to expect from the movie just made it all seem somewhat forced. But the movie overall was very entertaining and I think that the fact that it had been written by the same people who were involved with "The Shawshank Redemption" shows that it was very well done. Although I think that this is a good movie, it is not a great movie. It is a good movie that I will see again and that is about it. It is worth seeing in the theater, but I would not see it in the theaters again. If you are a fan of dramas and love dramas, then you will probably be able to find something to like in this movie. For me, it is a 7 out of 10.

Annie Hall is an extremely powerful movie, but it's difficult to watch because of its dark tone. The title comes from the popular song by Bob Seger and the rest of the film is a cautionary tale about someone who couldn't get on with her family. The movie is well-acted and based on the novel by David Mamet, which tells the story of Annie Hall who finds herself in a situation where she is out of place and that she can't relate to anyone and she needs to start over. The ending is just so powerful and this is a movie that will stick with you after the credits roll. I really liked the story of this movie and the themes it deals with. It tells us that everyone has a dark side and doesn't know where their life is going. The movie also gives a little voice to women, and it reminds us that it's okay to love someone but you have to let them know it. There are a few problems with the movie that are noticeable. I think it takes a little bit to get used to the characters, and they are rather difficult to relate to. For example, the character of Victoria, who is played by Samantha Morton, is a little annoying. She has a total of four lines in the whole movie, one of them is "Do you have a crayon?" when she comes across another character. A character who is really sweet and I think is supposed to be a good person. She is also given a lot of really harsh criticism in the movie. Other than that, I really enjoyed the movie, and I think it deserves a good rating. It is a very good movie, and I recommend it to anyone who is into dark themes. 7/10

In 1969, Orson Welles made a film of the same name, but not for another decade, at least. By 1976, the director would finally make an 'easy to miss' film, the 'Orson Welles Story' directed by Richard Loncraine. In this film, Welles made a film that was as well known, if not more, for being off the radar screen, as it was for being of the same caliber. Here, Welles is seen as a cranky alcoholic, who attempts to have a baby with his girlfriend, but he is also an artist, whose work brings him fame. As we learn from the news stories, Welles got his start as a "bad actor" in the theater, where he was considered to be the worst in the lot. Welles' masterpiece is "The War of the Worlds" a giant film made in 1939, that is considered a masterpiece of the era. It is a tale of a man named Henry Wiencek, who on the day of the invasion of Russia, finds a piece of paper that was dropped by some German soldiers, which reads, "I am a German." This paper was the starting point for a great story of the small town of Bois Bites, France, which becomes a front in World War II. As it happens, Welles travels to France, with two of his friends, along with a younger woman named, 'Emelie'. While Welles is there, he meets some wonderful French people who even played a part in the story of the end of World War II. We learn that the Germans tried to sabotage Welles' film, but Welles found a way to make a movie that was not only entertaining, but also truthful. Welles thought the Nazis were destroying the world, and we are not shown the actual quote, but Welles thought that they were all together going to war. I think Welles' genius was that he saw the way the world was, and decided to make a film that would go on, but never get talked about. We are not shown Welles' failures as an actor, but it is also not the greatest film of all time, but it is a story that has been told over and over again, by many other people. Welles was not exactly a huge star, or even a popular name, but he made a film that touched everyone. His work in this film and his other films would bring him fame, and he would make a return to the silver screen in 1983 with 'Nosferatu' where he is cast as the role of the vampire. That film is considered to be one of the best vampire movies of all time. This is not quite his masterpiece, but it is a good film, and it is well worth seeing.

I watched this on Netflix and came away with the feeling that it was worth the watch. Like so many people, I was deeply touched by this movie. The story is simple: in the throes of cancer, a woman (Shirley MacLaine) decides to sell her farm. Her plan is simple: to keep it for her grandchildren. But her husband (Richard Jordan) wants to sell the farm. She sets up a meeting with the real estate agent (Philip Seymour Hoffman). She presents her case, and the man refuses. The man is a typical conservative. Then, her grandson (Jordan). That's when things really start to fall apart. But I won't spoil the ending, so I will just say that it was a movie you had to be emotionally attached to and it worked on all levels. Even though I am a conservative Republican, this movie made me feel that I had to be a conservative as well. The viewer is put into the shoes of the elderly woman, and her grandson. The movie takes a point-by-point look at what happens in the person's life, as she is struggling to get the farm back. Jordan's performance is superb. He makes you feel he has been a part of the family since they were little kids. And I thought that was a wonderful touch. He manages to make you feel like he is one of the family. When he and MacLaine are arguing, his performance is so genuine and convincing that it felt like I was actually watching him in real life. And the wife, as she starts to lose her mind and her words are beginning to make sense, makes you feel sorry for her. The movie has been praised a lot for its socio-political message, and in many ways it does it well. It is definitely worth watching. It is definitely not a perfect movie, but it is a movie you cannot help but watch. You will come out feeling as if you've gotten something from it.
