I've seen this movie a few times and each time it makes me feel like I'm missing something, which is the whole point. It's like watching a full-length feature film, the problem is that it is way too long. When the movie was first released, it was available in two versions - the one most people have access to, and the one the director, star, producer, and others used to make the movie. Those versions do not compare. I saw the most recent one first and liked it. So did everyone I know. I am not a huge fan of the director, and I can see why the director is the person who does this movie. The problems I had with this film are the same ones I had with all his films. They are in the way of telling a story. You watch this movie, and you think "This is a weird little film that I would watch twice if I had the choice. It's all done well, but I want to know the story of it all." It is that story. I think if this movie was made with the same kind of imagination as the director's other films, it would be a great film. The story is a well-told story, but the direction is all wrong. It's done in a way that the audience would never see the story coming. It was this way in Big Sur. I felt the director had the vision of the way the story should be told. However, the directing is so bad in this movie that I wonder if the director could do a better job directing a movie if he were given a better script. I wonder if this movie is what I feel the director was going for. I think the director has the vision of a good film, but the directing is terrible. Overall, this movie is a good movie. It is a little slow at times, but it's worth watching just for the experience. You will leave the theater happy and sad. I just hope there is a third version of this movie that gives a better experience. But then again, I think the director was trying to do something more. I can't help it if the directors are really good, because they are. The same is true of the actors, but I can't help it if the actors are so bad that it makes me not want to watch the film. This is one of those movies where I can't help but love it. 9/10
