Description Three separate but parallel stories of the U.S mortgage housing crisis of 2005 are told. Michael Burry, an eccentric ex-physician turned one-eyed Scion Capital hedge fund manager, has traded traditional office attire for shorts, bare feet and a Supercuts haircut. He believes that the US housing market is built on a bubble that will burst within the next few years. Autonomy within the company allows Burry to do largely as he pleases, so Burry proceeds to bet against the housing market with the banks, who are more than happy to accept his proposal for something that has never happened in American history. The banks believe that Burry is a crackpot and therefore are confident in that they will win the deal. Jared Vennett with Deutschebank gets wind of what Burry is doing and, as an investor believes he too can cash in on Burry's beliefs. An errant telephone call to FrontPoint Partners gets this information into the hands of Mark Baum, an idealist who is fed up with the corruption in the financial industry. Baum and his associates, who work at an arms length under Morgan Stanley, decide to join forces with Vennett despite not totally trusting him. In addition to Burry's information, they further believe that most of the mortgages are overrated by the bond agencies, with the banks collating all the sub-prime mortgages under AAA packages. Charlie Geller and Jamie Shipley, who are minor players in a $30 million start-up garage company called Brownfield, get a hold of Vennett's prospectus on the matter. Wanting in on the action but not having the official clout to play, they decide to call an old "friend", retired investment banker Ben Rickert, to help out. All three of these groups work on the premise that the banks are stupid and don't know what's going on, while for them to win, the general economy has to lose, which means the suffering of the general investor who trusts the financial institutions. That latter aspect may not sit well with Baum. Some of these assumptions may be incorrect and may be far more manipulative than they could have ever imagined, which in turn may throw curves into the process.

Everyone thinks there is a financial crisis in the US, and it is very easy to figure out where this crisis is coming from. But this film gives a very good insight into what is actually happening. The story of the movie starts out with a young man named Adam Smith, who starts his business as a stockbroker. His goal is to get the best rates and get the highest profits possible. Adam, and his brother Max, are responsible for the stock market of their town. In the film, there is a bank that Max works for, and he is given some money by his uncle, who is a retired Goldman Sachs guy, to invest in his business. Adam is quite happy to give the money to his brother. As the story continues, the brothers have problems in their bank, and they try to get out of debt. But the bad guys want them to close the bank. Max's friends start talking about the bad bank to Adam, and Adam is not interested. Max and Adam get into a little argument about how bad the bank is, and Adam says he wants to go to his brother's job to get the bad bank closed. The bankers says that they are not going to help Adam get the bad bank closed, but Adam convinces them to help. The story goes on until Adam gets his brother's job, and everything works out perfectly. Adam is actually the son of the banker who was involved in the bad bank, and Adam uses that to his advantage. This film has an interesting premise, and I think it's the best that is out there right now. Everyone involved in the film is brilliant. I hope that this film does well, because it is very well made.

This movie hit me hard in my heart and in my soul. It really made me think about how some people are just too good for us and we have to live a life of comfort and convenience for them. Brad Pitt really proved himself to be a great actor. This is his finest performance since All the President's Men. It was also a very good movie to see the journey of a family man to the very end. I really felt bad for him during the last scenes of this movie. We can all relate to the feeling of wanting to be free and just live your life, not expecting anything from life. We can all relate to the feeling of wanting to be happy, not worrying about the future and just living the present. I also felt sorry for Steve in this movie. This movie really reminded me how hard it is to be successful in business. I know that even the great ones sometimes make mistakes, but when that kind of thing happens, they really mess up and not a good thing for their reputation. It's all about perception and how the people are so hard to handle when they do wrong. The only thing I can say about this movie is that I recommend it to everyone, because it's not only about the money. There are many good things in this movie and a lot of them are connected to our situation of today. When I am going through my own problems, I really need to see this movie and I think it can be very helpful in my life. I will never forget this movie and I will keep it in my heart always. This movie was a true masterpiece and I am so glad that it was nominated for best picture at the Oscars and won best picture.

I am just glad to see that no one else on here has made a statement as negative as I have. This movie is so real. I don't think I have ever seen a movie that was so real and so well done. It gives you the creeps! A true masterpiece! I know it is a comedy but this movie deserves the award for best comedy/drama of all time. Bravo to the cast, crew, and director! I would like to say more about the movie, but this is a 10 line summary and I am trying to avoid spoilers. The movie centers around the financial crisis of 2008. A film crew at an investment bank goes to an undisclosed location in the city to film a commercial, after being told they can not shoot in the area. While there they meet a group of people who become a part of their team and end up helping them and ruining the movie for everyone involved. The film is an incredibly well made movie, the acting was amazing, the story was perfect, and the characters were really well developed. There are some parts of the film that were very disturbing and upsetting, and I didn't expect this, but I think it was done perfectly. There were some parts where I felt a bit like crying, but other parts I was laughing. The end was really good. I am not going to say anymore but if you don't want to know, you will be fine! There were a few parts that I had a hard time understanding, but overall I thought it was fantastic. I loved the movie so much that I decided to read the book. This movie is such a great story that should be made into a movie. I feel like the actors in the film deserved more recognition for their work. I hope they get the awards and nominations for this movie because I would like to see it become a movie and be released in theaters. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone and everyone!
