I remember when this film was released in the UK back in 1987 and I remember seeing it as a 16 year old boy, I didn't understand the message behind it at all and was really confused. Now as a full grown adult I've seen the film several times and it still holds up very well. To this day I still enjoy it and always try and watch it when I can. In my opinion this is one of the greatest films I have ever seen. I know I have to be generous in this case as I believe this film is deserving of such praise. The plot is simple but it is what makes this film special. This film is a perfect example of a comedy with a message. The performances are excellent. Kevin Spacey is so perfect as a lost soul looking for meaning in life. It is his performance that really makes the film for me. He is the character of a lost soul who is looking for meaning in his life and is ready to accept that there is no such thing as meaning in life. I really admire the film for what it does and how it portrays a message to a very specific group of people. This film is not an easy watch for the average person to sit through, it is extremely graphic and will put many off from watching it. The whole film is shot with a hand held camera and it is done very well and in a very fast paced way. It is also very engaging, there are no boring scenes and you are never bored watching this film. The plot is simple, we see the main character find his meaning in life and starts to accept what he is in. I think the ending is perfect as it shows the main character find his meaning in life and accept what he is. This film is very funny and entertaining, it is a perfect example of a comedy with a message. Overall this is a very enjoyable film, I recommend it to anyone.
