R. Lee Ermey plays Bruce Wayne/Batman, so what do we have here? A much more dynamic performance than the one we saw in Batman Begins, one that is only marginally better than that of Heath Ledger. The only comparable performance is that of Christian Bale in Batman Begins, and that is pretty much a given. In this film, we have the story of Bruce Wayne's childhood, of Batman's rise, of the two villains on the loose. The plot is based on the comic book, and the director of photography is almost certainly going to be returning. The style of the film is almost always dark, and the use of practical effects was probably one of the most innovative and daring things done in a film in a while. Some may say that the story is too simplistic, but I have to disagree. The villain is not the source of Batman's strength, but the knowledge and training of Batman allows him to defeat the villain. I also have to disagree with those who say that Heath Ledger's performance is "not good enough" for this movie. He was absolutely perfect, and it is rare that a villain is played so well. I can't really speak for the other villains, but I think they were all fantastic as well. The supporting cast was quite good too, though I don't think they were as good as those in the Batman Begins film. Some may say that this movie is a rip-off of The Dark Knight, but I think it is very close to it, and that is saying a lot. I have never really felt the need to compare the two films, but I am now considering it a very interesting subject.
